Chocolate Floating Island
1-cup
flour
2
teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon
salt
¾ cup
sugar
2
tablespoons cocoa
Stir
in ½ cup milk and 2 tablespoons melted shortening. Blend in nuts if desired.
Spread in 9-inch square pan. Sprinkle
with mixture of 1 cup packed brown sugar and ¼ cup cocoa. Pour over entire
batter 1 ¾ cups hot water. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve warm with
or without whipped cream.
